¶ 1. Welcome
Welcome to Editor IEC by Sirius Electronic System Srl.
Editor IEC is a device-independent PLC-programming system that matches IEC 61131-3 standard.
¶ Minimum system requirements
Before you are going to install regard following system requirements, installation and how to get further information.

¶ 2. Installation
¶ Download archives
To install IEC develpment environment some components are required:
- Sirius SDK: toolchain for simulation and ARM platform.
- nwsirius_IEC: IEC editor and QT designer programs.
- minGW: toolchain for simulation and QT designer.
To download software (SDK and IDE) use this link.
¶ Installing the environment
- Create a folder (will call
<INSTALL_FOLDER>) to contains environment. (IE:C:\Sirius-ES) - Extract
nwsirius_IEC_XXXXXinto<INSTALL_FOLDER>. - Extract
siriusSDKinto<INSTALL_FOLDER>. - Extract
MinGWinto<INSTALL_FOLDER>\siriusSDK. - Launch the batch file
.\setQtPath.batlocated into<INSTALL_FOLDER>\siriusSDK\MinGW\Qt - Now you can lauch
IEC editorandQt Designerprograms
After installation this folders structure will be created on disk:

Complete path must be without spaces (IE:
C:\Program files\...is a bad path)

¶ 3. Starting the programs
To run IEC Editor, launch <INSTALL_FOLDER>\nwsirius\_IEC\tools\editor_IEC.exe program.

To run QT Designer, launch <INSTALL_FOLDER>\nwsirius\_IEC\tools\QtDesigner_4.8.6\designer.exe program.

¶ 4. Example project (Sirius-ES)
Sirius-ES is a example project. It can run without hardware in order to show how to create and debug.
Sirius-ESproject may be different from this; it is countiuosly updated.
Launch IEC Editor and press Open button to open existing projects. Choose .\Sirius-ES.xml into <INSTALL_FOLDER>\nwsirius_IEC\applicat\Sirius-ES folder then press Open.
In this project there are some example pous written in Structured Text (ST), Ladder (LD). Part of the example is in HMI pages, these are javascript examples.
To run build project choosing simulation, then press PLC button to launch PLC program.

¶ 5. Uninstall
To uninstall application from your computer, simply delete <INSTALL_FOLDER> from your pc.
Projects are saved into subfolder
<INSTALL_FOLDER>\nwsirius_IEC\applicat. Remember to backup them before delete.
¶ 6. Data Security recommendations
In order to minimize the risk of data security breaches we recommend the following organizational and technical measurements for system running your applications:
- Avoid as far as possible to expose PLCs and PLC networks to public networks and Internet.
- For protection use additional security layers like a VPN for remote access and install firewall mechanisms.
- Restrict access on authorized persons, if available change default passwords at start-up and modify them frequently.
